Menai suspension bridge, Wales. This is considered the first suspension bridge in the world. This is one of the support towers, with suspension cables hanging off either side. The bridge was designed by Thomas Telford (1757-1834), and completed in 1826. The original iron chains have since been replaced, along with the roadway, but the original bricks of the towers are still in place.
