The Iron Bridge. This national monument was the first cast-iron bridge in the world, an icon of the Industrial Revolution. It was designed in 1775 by Thomas Pritchard and erected in 1779 by Abraham Darby III. Located in Ironbridge, near Coalbrookdale in Shropshire, UK, it spans the River Severn with an arch of around 30 metres.
