Virtual reality archaeology. Archaeologist interacting with a virtual reality simulation of an archaeological site. The small grey balls on his hands are tracked by an infrared camera, accurately pinpointing their location in space. This is then used to locate his position in the simulation seen on the screen. Virtual reality (VR) involves a person interacting with a computer-generated reality, usually for training, leisure or educational purposes. This work is being carried out by CINECA, the inter-University consortium of Bologna, Italy.
