Reduced Gravity Walking Simulator. Researching reduced gravity conditions as part of the Apollo project. The test subject is wearing a pressurised suit, and the floor is at an angle that allows only one-sixth of his weight to be supported by it. The remainder is supported by a suspension system. As this mimics the Moon's gravity, researchers can then study different aspects of walking on the lunar surface, such as fatigue limit, energy expenditure and speed of locomotion. Photographed at the Lunar Landing Facility at NASA's Langley Research Center in Virginia, USA, on 5th May 1965.
