Eumovate steroid cream. Eumovate is a type of medicine known as a corticosteroid (or steroid). It contains clobetasone butyrate and is applied to the skin to treat eczema and dermatitis. Corticosteroids are hormones that are produced naturally by the adrenal glands, and have many important functions, including control of inflammatory responses. Clobetasone is a synthetic steroid that reduces the swelling and itching of the skin by stopping the cells from producing inflammation-causing chemicals (such as prostaglandins) that are released in response to allergens or irritation.
