Derek Howse (1919-1998), British science historian and naval officer. Howse was a naval officer who rose to the rank of Commander, serving in the Second World War. His career as a science historian began on his retirement when he joined the Museum Service and became an expert on the history of the Royal Greenwich Observatory and its equipment.
