Don Julio Cervera Baviera (born 1854), Spanish commander, engineer and telecommunications pioneer. Cervera was trained as a military engineer, and was particularly interested in wireless communications. In 1899, after the Spanish- American War, Cervera collaborated with Guglielmo Marconi and his assistant George Kemp, and was vital in the development of the wireless telephone and radio. Some claim that it was Cervera, who went on to found the Spanish Wireless Telegraph and Telephone Corporation, who solved many of the major hurdles in the development of the system.
