Triassic fauna. Artwork of animals that existed in the Triassic period (248 to 206 million years ago) around a pool. The archosaur postosuchus (Postosuchus kirkpatricki), is at upper left. Below this is are three placerias (Placerias sp.), a species of mammal-like reptile. Two Megazostrodon, one of the first mammals, are at bottom right. Behind them is Cynognathus, a predatory mammal-like reptile. The group of animals on the far shore of the pool are coelophysid theropod dinosaurs. The large animals above these are two Plateosaurus, a herbivorous dinosaur. Above, (in the sky) is Eudimorphodon sp., a pterosaur.
