Egardon hill, soil creep. These terraces, known as terracettes, form readily in the light chalk soil of the slopes of this hill. They are formed by the movement of soil downhill, a process known as soil creep. Although these are often referred to as sheep tracks, livestock are not the cause of the terracettes although they do emphasise the formation. Photographed at Egardon Hill in west Dorset, UK.
