Icy road after an ice storm. Trees along an icy road weighed down by ice. Ice storms occur when warm clouds deposit rain above a layer of colder air. The droplets are cooled to below zero degrees Celsius and turn into ice when they fall onto a surface that is below freezing. Here, 5.8 centimetres of ice was deposited, felling trees and cutting the electrical power supply. Photographed in Norman, Oklahoma, USA.
