Urban areas such as Munich (lower centre), Augsburg (lower left) and Nuremberg (upper centre) appear grey. Forests are dark green, grazing lands are light green and crops are mostly yellow. Bare ground appears pale yellow or brown, almost white. Numerous lakes (blue), including Lake Constance (bottom left), lie in the foothills of the Alps in southern Bavaria.
