Furbelows seaweed (Saccorhiza polyschides). This is the largest European seaweed, it can grow up to 4.5 metres in length. The bulbous part of the plant is its holdfast, which anchors to the rock. This plant is used as a fertilizer and is eaten as the Japanese food kombu. It is also a good source of iodine.
