Frosted glass. Person seen through a pattern on frosted glass. The pattern is produced by acid etching or sand-blasting. This turns the glass from being clear to translucent, with the light passing through the glass being scattered and dispersed. As well as forming a pattern, this effect is often done to maintain privacy.
