Paluweh volcano lava dome. Time-lapse footage of an active lava dome of the Paluweh volcano in Indonesia. The lava dome is seen at night with storm lighting occasionally flashing and lighting up the landscape. This active lava dome is gradually extruding glowing lava, which breaks off and cascades down the flanks of the dome, accompanied by an intense glow. Paluweh volcano is located about 10 kilometres off the north coast of Flores Island, one of the Lesser Sunda Islands in Indonesia. It lies in the Flores-Pantar sector of the Sunda Arc. Paluweh volcano has formed an island which rises about 3000 metres from the seabed and around 900 metres above sea level. The volcano is largely constructed from a series of andesite lava domes, with the Rokatenda dome being the site of several historical eruptions.
