With the mooring of A.F.D. 22, one of four large floating docks, at Plymouth, ended a story of endurance and adventure in the face of difficulties with the Royal Navy taking the leading part. The story began in Bombay when it was decided to tow three floating docks halfway round the world, and the job was given to the Royal Navy. One of them was left at Malta and another joined them at Gibraltar. The operation known as "Snow White" was completed yesterday when the three docks survived in this country.
