Orchid flowers (Dactylorhiza romana). Several tiny flowers make up the cluster seen here. This orchid is found in south-eastern Europe and eastwards into Turkey. The Dactylorhiza orchids grow in bogs and damp meadows, and are terrestrial orchids (ones that grow in the ground). There are more than 30,000 species of orchids worldwide, many of which are grown as ornamental flowers.
